Walk In Registered Nurse (RN), Vestal Parkway

United Health Services is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Walk In Facility in Vestal Parkway, NY. Vestal Parkway Walk in is open 8:00 AM- 8:00 PM, Monday through Sunday. The Walk in Registered Nurse will rotate between the United Health Services Walk in facilities; Endicott, Robinson Street and Vestal Parkway. This is a Full Time-BENEFITS-ELIGIBLE position.

Shift: 8:00 AM- 8:00 PM 12 hour shifts/ EO weekend
Hours per week: 40
Salary range: $31.61 - $45.43/hour, depending on experience

Walk IN Registered Nurse Overview

The Urgent Care Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response and through advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN is responsible and accountable for compliance to all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services Hospitals and Nursing Division policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.

Walk In Registered Nurse Key Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Coordinates clinical training, orientation and ongoing evaluation of new/existing urgent care clinical staff as well as completion and submission of clinical competencies at time of hire and annually.
  • In collaboration with the supervisor, coordinates urgent care clinical schedules, ensuring appropriate clinical support for extended hours of the urgent care facility.
  • The RN provides clinical leadership staff while overseeing the scope of practice of LPN’s and Medical Assistants in the urgent care setting.
  • Triages and assesses acutely ill patients for early identification of signs and symptoms to prevent complications and ensure timely intervention of acutely ill patients.
  • In conjunction with the urgent care provider, stabilizes the acutely ill patients and coordinates transport to a higher level of care using critical thinking and nursing knowledge and skills.
  • Communicates professionally and efficiently with emergency responders to ensure a safe transport to a higher level of care.
  • Educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
  • Coordinates and responds to urgent/emergent situations within the facility and provides stabilizing treatment.
  • Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to UHS Hospitals policy.
  • Maintains CLIA Waived Lab standards and performs CLIA Waived Lab testing and oversees proficiency validation according to regulatory standards, Includes oversight of tri-annual AAFP Lab Proficiency testing, lab quality controls and Lab credentialing.
  • Collaborates and leads patients, families and all members of the health Care Team in coordinating patient care.

Position Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Graduated of an accredited school of registered nursing.
  • Current NY State RN license
  • At least 1 year of experience in health care setting with evidence of having obtained proficiency in those areas emphasized in the Registered Nurse curriculum.
  • Documentation of current C PR certification required within 1 week of start of employment.

Preferred:

  • Previous Experience in a walk setting.
