Position Overview

The Senior Director – HR Business Partners and Employee Relations is a senior strategic HR position managing a team of high functioning Human Resource Business Partners that work as trusted collaborators/advisors to senior leadership and management in the areas of engagement, change management, organization effectiveness, work environment, culture and leadership and build programs aligned with the organization’s vision and objectives. The Senior Director will have a full perspective of the business, placing emphasis on people development, retention engagement and people management and addressing employee relations issues across the organization. This position provides consultation on change strategies that align with a performance culture; acts as a driving force of change initiatives; uses strong diagnostic skills to improve performance, business outcomes and employee engagement. In addition, the Senior Director proactively identifies strategic gaps or opportunities and proposes a consulting plan to identify and address root causes. The Senior Director possess a solid understanding of all HR functions and works collaboratively with business clients and/or HR partners across centers of excellence including talent acquisition, talent management and total rewards.

Position Requirements

  • Education/Experience
    • Minimum Required:
      • Bachelor’s degree; Management experience five years. Master's degree; HR management experience seven years preferred. SPHR/PHR/SCP preferred.

Position Functions

  • Works with division leaders to customize overarching HR Strategic Plan to their specific divisions. Partners with divisions on the achievement of division specific workforce-related goals.
  • Develops strategic partnerships with senior leaders, subject matter experts, and internal clients throughout the organization to identify and intervene on initiatives that address organizational strategic goals and needs.
  • In conjunction with the VR. HR/CHRO, integrates HR services with organizational initiatives; implements HR operational strategy, networking with other HR professionals to determine best practices in support of organizational direction; ensures the delivery of high quality HR processes.
  • Facilitates difficult interactions among organizational stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes; resolves escalated conflicts among stakeholders.
  • Builds consensus and settles disputes on HR policy and practice decisions.
  • Assesses needs and identifies interventions that address issues of retention, change management, employee engagement.
  • Maintains advanced knowledge in the use of data, evidence based research, benchmarks, HR and business metrics to make critical decisions.
  • Recommends business practice/work process improvements to identify opportunities for leveraging human capital; builds business cases for HR initiatives; ensures all HR initiatives have ROI that adds to organizational value.
  • Translates the vision, mission and strategy into projects and initiatives with milestones and delivery schedules.
  • Analyzes root causes of work environment issues; builds and manages interventions and solutions in collaboration and cooperation with key stakeholders.
  • Maintains a System perspective when making HR/business decisions
  • Proactively leads and manages business partners and employee relations specialists effectively.
