Medical Receptionist, Johnson City

United Health Services is seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our Access Care Team at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, NY. This is a Per Diem position.

Salary range: $15.00 - $20.25/hour, depending on experience

Medical Receptionist Overview

The Medical Receptionist ensures that the Radiology Department clerical/receptionist functions are administered in an accurate, timely, responsive and reliable fashion. Customers served include UHS employees, medical staff, patients and regulatory agencies. Priority will be given to activities that directly affect customer service.

UHS Wilson Medical Center is a 280-bed hospital and Level II Trauma Center. In this position, you’ll serve a medical facility that is a regional leader in cardiac surgery, neurosurgery and neurosciences, cancer care, maternity and high-risk obstetrics, neonatal intensive care, blood disorder treatment, and physical therapy and rehabilitation. Wilson is a bustling hospital and is a 24-hour designated stroke and chest pain center.

Medical Receptionist Key Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Performs the various functions of the clerical area to include front desk, posting, mail, telephones, PACS, clinical systems & importing.
  • Maintains effective communication with referring physicians, radiologists, technical staff members and other customers to ensure the proper maintenance of patient’s radiology records and images. Must remain professional under stressful situations.
  • Answers the phones, relay messages, and gather patient information for those persons authorized to receive this information.
  • Provides assistance in training new employees.
  • Maintains UHS images and records including outside importing of images.

Position Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and basic typing skills, previous experience involving public contact and knowledge of general office procedures.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in an Imaging Department and basic knowledge of radiographic tests.
  • Some knowledge of medical terminology.
