Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Gastro Intestinal, Wilson Medical Center, Johnson City, NY

United Health Services is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Gastro Intestinal Practice in Johnson City, NY. The LPN plays a critical role in procedures performed at this busy practice. The office is open Monday- Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. This is a BENEFITS-ELIGIBLE/28 hours a week position.

Salary range: $19.28-28.92/hour, depending on experience

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Gastro Intestinal Overview

Under direction, assists the Gastroenterologist in the procedure rooms and anticipates their needs. Participates in patient care and safety, reprocesses endoscopes, utilizes GI supplies conservatively, and operates as a team member of the GI Staff.

Wilson Medical Center is designated as a 24-hour trauma, stroke and chest pain center, UHS Wilson Medical Center is a 280 bed medical clinic facility serving Johnson City with emergency care and medical Services. The GI lab can be found within the Wilson Medical Center facility.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Gastro Intestinal Key Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Collects data related to patient needs, problems or concerns and performs clinical measurements (i.e., vital signs).
  • Assists, under the direction of the GI Registered Nurse, in the implementation of the established plan of care.
  • Provides procedural assistance to the Gastroenterologist and GI Registered Nurse before, during, and after diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Participates in quality management and performance improvement activities as directed.
  • Collaborates with the Gastroenterology team and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality and continuity of patient care.

Position Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Graduated an accredited school of Practical Nursing
  • Current New York State Practical Nurse License or Permit
  • CPR Certification within 3 months of hire

Preferred:

  • GI Technical Specialist (GTS), online course completion, through the Society of Gastrointestinal Assistants (SGNA)
