United Health Services is seeking a per diem Home Care Speech-Language Pathologist to provide in-home speech therapy in and around Broome County in New York’s Southern Tier. Become part of an interdisciplinary team that works collaboratively to meet the needs of its patients allowing them to remain safely in their own homes.

Salary range: Depending on experience


Home Care Speech-Language Pathologist Position Overview

As a Home Care Speech-Language Pathologist with United Health Services, you’ll get to spend one-on-one time with patients and their caregivers as you teach them how to better manage their disease process and well-being. You will have the opportunity to watch your patients meet their therapy goals, which will, in turn, lead them to an improved quality of life.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Comprehend, interpret, and follow medical prescriptions for speech-language pathology
  • Apply the accepted principles, methods, and procedures of measurement, prediction, and evaluation tests to assess patients’ strengths and limitations, providing clinical diagnoses
  • Assist patients in achieving objective short- and long-term goals
  • Administer and interpret clinical speech-language pathology services for assigned patients and adjust treatments according to patient response to speech-language pathology treatment protocol
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, their families, and other staff personnel and provide patient and family education as needed
  • Plan decisions for patients post-discharge and interface with vendors to provide needed durable medical equipment
  • Maintain accurate records of each patient’s treatment, progress, and/or regression according to standards and maintain all necessary records required to meet the criteria established by regularity agencies

Position Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Master’s Degree in speech language pathology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or Clinical Fellowship candidacy
  • NYS license to practice as a speech-language pathologist
  • CPR certification

Preferred:

  • Previous clinical experience
  • Experience with dysphagia and neurogenic communication disorders
