The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UHS in upstate New York is seeking a Genitourinary (GU) Pathologist to join our department of 10 experienced Pathologists with excellent diagnostic skills in multiple areas of pathology, 3 PAs, and over 200 laboratory staff. This position will see an average of 30 cases per day (single-part and multiple-part cases) and qualified candidate will be fellowship trained in GU and board certified in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology.
The department provides a high-quality diagnostic service and has a comprehensive quality assurance program. We handle approximately 21,000 surgical pathology cases, 20,000 GYN cytopathology cases, 3000 non-gynecologic cytopathology cases, 250 autopsies, 200 bone marrows, 800 flow cytometry cases, and 1.5 million clinical pathology tests per year.
The Pathology and Laboratory Medicine department currently has two board certified (BC) cytopathologists, three BC hematopathologists, one BC Breast and GYN Pathologist, one BC Neuropathologist, 1 BC Dermatopathologist, 1 BC Forensic Pathologist, one BC Autopsy Pathologist, one board-certified Transfusion Medicine Specialist, and three Pathologist Assistants. The department is in the process of instituting subspecialty sign-out. Hematopathology, Neuropathology, Thyroid FNAs, most of the Breast and Gynecologic Pathology, most of the GYN and non-GYN cytopathology, most of skin cases, and almost all autopsy cases are handled by the specialists. The department has a comprehensive and aggressive QA program in AP and CP.
The department has state-of-the art immunohistochemistry laboratory, flow cytometry laboratory, and automated histology laboratory.
