Weekender RN

United Health Services is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Weekender RN Team. This is a BENEFITS-ELIGIBLE/ 32-36 Hours/week position.

Weekender Program Details

Weekender RNs will work three or four shifts each weekend (a total of 32 or 36 hours) while being paid for 40 or 44 hours. The goal of this program is to create predictable staffing schedules for weekend shifts. While nurses in this program can still pick up extra weekday hours, they will primarily work weekend shifts.

Shift Structure

All shifts will occur between 3 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Schedule A 4 / 8 Hours shifts worked = 32 Hours / Total Paid= 40 Hours

Schedule B 2 / 12 hour shifts worked plus 1, 8 hour shift= 32 Hours Worked / Total Paid= 40 Hours

Schedule C 3 / 12 Hours shifts worked = 36 hours Worked / Total Paid- 44 Hours

Work Requirements

• Two shifts (or 24 hours total) must be on Saturday/Sunday during “peak” hours of the weekend.

• Must work one recognized UHS holiday: Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, 4th of July, Labor Day, New Year’s Day, or Christmas Day.

• Must work a minimum of one “hard-to-staff” day: Easter Sunday, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Halloween, Day after Thanksgiving, Day after Christmas, Christmas Eve, or New Year’s Eve.

Compensation and Benefits Package

  • Sign-on bonus if applicable.
  • Hourly rate commensurate with experience and licensure credit.
  • Applicable shift differential for evenings and nights.
  • Compensation will be paid as 64 productive hours and 16 “paid absent hours” per pay period.
  • To receive “paid absent hours”, employee must meet scheduled working hours or have PTO to cover time missed. Employee will forfeit “paid absent hours” if they do not have sufficient hours or PTO to cover missed scheduled hours.
  • In order to be eligible for overtime, Weekender must work over 40 hours in addition to the 8 paid absent hours per week.
  • PTO for three weekends per year (12 days) and ill calls.
  • Weekenders will also receive the same benefits as all employees who work at least in a PT2 status: o Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
  • 403(b) with employer match.

Position Qualifications

  • Graduate of Accredited school of nursing and current New York State Registered Nurse or eligible. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
