United Health Services is seeking a Skilled Mechanic to join our Engineering team in Johnson City, NY. This is a benefits-eligible position.

Skilled Mechanic Position Overview

Under direction of Engineering Supervisor/Lead Person to operate, maintain, and replace equipment and components of the Hospital infrastructure. Must demonstrate competency as a skilled mechanic in the trade which the employee is assigned. Must implement the preventive maintenance program.

UHS Wilson Medical Center is a 280-bed hospital and Level II Trauma Center. In this position, you’ll serve a medical facility that is a regional leader in cardiac surgery, neurosurgery and neurosciences, cancer care, maternity and high-risk obstetrics, neonatal intensive care, blood disorder treatment, and physical therapy and rehabilitation. Wilson is a bustling hospital and is a 24-hour designated stroke and chest pain center.

Skilled Mechanic Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Installs, inspects, maintains, repairs all heating, air conditioning, ice making, refrigeration, ventilation systems, steam distribution, piping, valves, chilled and hot water reheat systems and similar plant and specialty equipment items.
  • Implements the preventative maintenance schedule and documents tasks completed in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) utilizing a computer or mobile device.
  • Responds to emergency situations during or after hours in the facility and makes emergency repairs as needed.
  • Utilizes, maintains, and repairs all energy management or building automation systems.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds and kneel/bend/stoop and perform strenuous labor for extended periods of time.
  • Preforms other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduate of Trade School OR 2 years of journeyman HVAC Technician

License/Certification:

  • Universal EPA Refrigerant Certification
  • Valid Driver’s License

Experience:

  • At least two years of HVAC experience.
  • Experience working with blueprints and schematics.
  • Knowledge of commercial electrical systems and wiring.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
