Room Service Associate, BGH Hospital

United Health Services is seeking a Room Service Associate to join our Binghamton General Hospital team in Binghamton, NY.

Shift: Evenings
Hours per week: Per Diem
Salary range: $15.00 - $20.25/hour, depending on experience


Room Service Associate Position Overview

As a part of the BGH Food and Nutrition team you will assist in all areas of the department associated with Patient, Retail and Catering Services.

UHS Binghamton General Hospital holds 220 beds and provides general medical clinic services such as surgical, rehabilitative, and emergency care to the people of greater Binghamton. It offers 24-hour emergency care and operates such major regional programs as orthopedic surgery, bariatric care, wound care, physical therapy and rehabilitation services, chemical dependency treatment service, behavioral health program, sleep center and gastroenterology laboratory at our medical clinic.

Room Service Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Delivers patients meals, ordered through the Room service program, directly to the patients, Nursing Units, or to other Room Service Associates on the nursing units. Delivers patient meals to Patient rooms and positions bedside table in front of or close to the patient.
  • Measures/records patients' intake information, as required by physicians orders or nursing standards of care.
  • Responds to questions from patients and/or family members regarding meals and/or menu selection processes using scripting learned at formal training sessions. Assists patients and/or family members with menu selections, as needed.
  • Utilizes the Room Service Program computerized scanner to track meals status.
  • Communicates with nursing about the status of the patients' meals, when necessary.
  • Assists in the dish room and strips and cleans delivery carts/trays. Provides clean/sanitary service ware via the operation of the dish machine and other cleaning equipment.
  • Maintains proper levels of supplies and stocks to support each station in the operation.
