About the Job

The responsibilities of this position include assisting the Director of Risk Management and other members of the department in carrying out the following functions: coordinating insurance coverages, managing claims, interfacing with and coordinating defense counsel activities including discovery related to lawsuits, compiling, managing and analyzing risk management data, developing and managing databases serving the needs of both the Risk and Quality Management Departments, complying with the risk management standards of the Joint Commission and New York State Code, working in conjunction with staff of the Quality Management Department to improve patient safety and therefore reduce risk to the organization. The objectives of the position are to assist with the control of losses and minimize losses with the goal of protecting the assets of all United Health Services.

Position Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree and two years of progressive experience in a healthcare or insurance setting.
  • Experience in designing and maintaining databases.
  • Strong administrative support abilities, note taking, transcribing meeting minutes, preparing meeting documents, setting up meetings and general office functions.
  • Bachelor's Degree and two years progressive experience as cited above.
  • Knowledge of liability malpractice and insurance issues.
  • Experience in compiling data and analyzing it to form recommendations supported by the data.
