Position Overview

  • Provides overall administrative and programmatic direction, leadership, and support for UHS’ Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Medevac, and Transport Medicine programs to ensure the integrity and integration of in-hospital services with community needs and the pre-hospital emergency care system. Responsible for operations, program planning and development of Quality Management, Performance Improvement, and professional services for EMS and Medevac Operations. Demonstrates UHS’ ongoing commitment to improve pre-hospital emergency care and patient outcomes by providing team and community education, system supervision, support, and leadership to pre-hospital EMS providers, agencies, and systems. Provides institutional leadership for emergency management and preparedness, transport medicine, air ambulance transportation along with all UHS helipad/helicopter/air ambulance operations areas. Provides overall management and leadership related to planning and managing (helicopter and fixed wing) Medevac flights and related safety, operations, and support relationships.

Position Requirements

  • Education/Experience
    • Minimum Required:
      • Three (3) or more years of progressively responsible experience in overall emergency healthcare management and operations
      • Three (3) or more years of experience as Advanced EMT-Critical Care or Paramedic on 911 ambulance service
    • Preferred:
      • Experience as EMS agency leader, state or regional EMS coordinator or similar EMS leadership position
  • NYS DOH AEMT-Critical Care or AEMT-Paramedic Certification or eligible required.
