Inpatient Applications Analyst III Team Lead, Binghamton (Remote)

United Health Services is seeking an Inpatient Applications Analyst III Team Lead to join our Epic Inpatient Applications team in Binghamton, NY. The Inpatient Applications Analyst Team Lead is responsible to ensure that all systems and software applications are running smoothly. They design, test, analyze, monitor, and maintain applications to support the hospital in attaining its objectives. They act as the first technical point of contact for all application and system issues. This is a benefits-eligible position.

Inpatient Applications Analyst Team Lead Position Overview

The Application Analyst III Team Lead is a senior application analyst supporting one or more applications or systems and serves as a subject-matter expert on the workflows, content and functionality of the applications assigned to them for support and oversees the application team with the support of the application leader.

UHS Binghamton General Hospital holds 220 beds and provides general medical clinic services such as surgical, rehabilitative, and emergency care to the people of greater Binghamton. It offers 24-hour emergency care and operates such major regional programs as orthopedic surgery, bariatric care, wound care, physical therapy and rehabilitation services, chemical dependency treatment service, behavioral health program, sleep center and gastroenterology laboratory at our medical clinic.

Inpatient Applications Analyst Team Lead Responsibilities and Expectations

Essential Functions:

  • Leadership & Supervisory
  • Provides leadership to staff that encourages team member empowerment, decision-making, and planning to ensure effective, efficient operations, optimizing performance, and continually improving quality in a vastly changing health care environment.
  • Works in conjunction with their manager to establishes and prepares departmental plans, standards, procedures, and instructions which contribute to the effectiveness of the department in accordance with organizational goals.
  • Creates an environment for team member growth, development, career planning, and productivity. Develops training and development plans with staff.
  • Establish effective mechanisms of communication with staff and the management team to foster an environment of openness, trust, teamwork and staff development including regular one-on-one meetings with their staff.
  • Advocates for and acts as an agent of progressive change within the organization. Transfers knowledge and collaborates across teams, departments and divisions.
  • May collaborate with manager on performance appraisals as needed for team members within the department.
  • Develops best practices related to integrated build. Represents UHS in industry presentations (HIMSS, UGM, XGM, etc.) communicating innovative design and build to meet health care and business specific policies. Serves as coach to analysts, subject matter expert on tickets, decisions, end to end workflow, future health care regulations and policy that may impact system design and configuration. Facilitates application team meetings.
  • Able to work independently across multiple applications, making decisions on prioritization of work of analyst team, in conjunction with operational counterparts and leadership team. Identifies creative solutions independently and applies a broad knowledge of application/workflow/integration including those areas outside their primary applications. Provides recommendations on solutions identified while highlighting pros and cons of those solutions.
  • Produces business cases and seeks approval from senior stakeholders on complex decisions including preparing decision documents. Facilitates patient safety escalation sessions independently, resolves complex security and ticket issues, and assists team with build and plan with projects.
  • Independently lead transitions from build or projects including soliciting feedback from peers. Serves as a SME across pillars to efficiently scope projects, track and trend metrics, setup work groups/processes to improve metrics.
  • Coaches and mentor’s analyst team.
  • Stays open-minded and encourages others to bring new perspectives and thoughts to help solve complex problems
  • Set and redefine priority through governance to increase the application team’s capacity to internal and external demands
  • Develops materials independently and leads department wide initiatives including change control, testing initiatives, upgrades, projects and special updates.
  • Independently owns respective governance meeting facilitation with operational counterpart(s).

Operations Management

  • Ensures the supported computing environments are maintained and available as appropriate. Responsible for the high availability of systems, technical documentation and execution of recovery plans.
  • Ensures the team meets operational, project, and customer satisfaction service levels. Establishes productivity guidelines, monitors and adjusts to achieve maximum productivity. Develops, executes and communicates service improvement plans to department and/or customers.
  • May create and maintain department resource plans and project roadmaps.
  • Responsible for providing project management of team projects as needed.
  • Assists with establishing priorities, deadlines and executes tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Exhibits strong leadership and problem resolution skills related to supported applications and systems. Assists with resolution of issues with applications and development efforts. Coordinates resolution between multiple teams to solve issues.
  • Reviews incident tickets for trends. Demonstrates the ability to identify root cause for issues and works with vendor support teams to resolve problems.
  • Takes ownership of escalated customer issues and works with multiple parties to help resolve issues.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and implements documentation tools.

Position Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School Diploma and four (4) years of healthcare operations (clinical, patient care, administrative or revenue cycle), information technology or health information technology experience
  • Demonstrated competency in Application Analyst III role.
  • Experienced in all stages of project implementation, including design, development, workflow analysis, build, implementation, optimization, go-live, and post go-live support.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (information technology or clinical/healthcare fields) preferred
  • Epic experience
