Manager Outpatient Behavioral Health Program Position Overview

The Behavioral Health Program Manager is responsible for managing the day to day clinical and administrative operations of the outpatient clinic program. Ensures the clinical, regulatory and quality performance of the outpatient team. Provides administrative and clinical supervision. Serves as a liaison between the program and other community agencies to ensure full coordination of care is achieved.

Manager Outpatient Behavioral Health Program Responsibilities and Expectations

    • Provides ongoing supervision to employees, conducts yearly performance evaluations, and personal improvement plans.
    • Supervises the therapeutic responsibilities and related case management duties of clinical staff.
    • Conducts evaluation of group and individual counseling skills for all staff providing outpatient addictions services.
    • Monitors the counseling workload to ensure that it is timely, professional, and complete.
    • Responsible for the coordination of the staff education needed to implement necessary new technology.
    • Monitors the clerical workload to ensure that each rendered service is timely, professional, and complete.
    • Management/department meetings: The Manager schedules and facilitates department meetings to provide necessary or requested communications with staff.
    • Assesses and manages human resource needs for the delivery of high-quality service: recruit, hires, and trains staff.
    • Responds to patient complaints.
    • Completes patient death reports to the relevant state oversight agencies.

Position Qualifications

Master’s degree in social work or mental health counseling or marriage and family therapy, five years’ experience in health-related field to include a minimum of three to five years’ experience in behavioral health, and experience with electronic medical record documentation required. NYS licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), NYS licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or CASAC required.
