United Health Services is seeking a Manager of Infection Prevention to join our team at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich, NY. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position.

Manager of Infection Prevention Overview

The Manager of Infection Prevention leads the Infection Prevention and Employee Health Programs which provide support to the Hospital, Nursing Home and outpatient medical practices. The successful candidate will work to ensure activities are directed toward preventing and decreasing healthcare associated infections and improving patient safety across the continuum of care.

Manager of Infection Prevention Key Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Participates in hospital wide programs and committees affecting the delivery of care and business practices.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Reviews, interprets and disseminates current infection control regulations/standards to appropriate individuals and departments.
  • Conducts patient oriented surveillance of healthcare associated infections and evaluates the data with respect to trends and quality assessment indicators.
  • Coordinates management of all known infectious disease exposures involving hospital personnel and provides oversight of Employee Health regarding monitoring and management of infectious disease exposures and infectious illness in employees.
  • Prepares and presents reports summarizing healthcare associated infection surveillance data, special investigations and projects to the Infection Control committee and the Board.
  • Recognizes potential health hazards/exposures, plans assessment and intervention strategies and promotes safety in Chenango Memorial Hospital facilities.
  • Identifies healthcare associated infections on Nursing Units and intervenes/implements infection control measures as necessary through education, policy development, and provision of equipment or other means.
  • Coordinates calculation of surgical site infection rates and post-operative pneumonia rates.

Position Qualifications

  • Registered Professional Nurse from an accredited school of nursing. Minimum 2 years of experience in Infection Control and management.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
