Information Services Application and Operation Services Manager Overview

  • To manage Information Services applications and operational support services for UHS; ensuring needs and opportunities are identified, evaluated and implemented in an affordable and effective manner; contributing to the overall development and performance of the UHS Integrated Healthcare Delivery System. Customers include patients, physicians, management and staff of UHS. Provide application leadership for program implementations.

Information Services Application and Operation Services Manager Key Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Manages the planning and development of Information Technology and Applications services. The IS Applications include Enterprise-wide and departmental systems, mainframe and PC/Client Server systems and the interface/integration of systems. Direct application projects and system coordination activities.
  • Manages IS Computer Operational support services to ensure plans are developed for training, staff scheduling, production scheduling, computer room space, environmental controls, and overall IS Operations performance improvement; established performance goals and objectives are met; support for the implementation of new systems; any urgent, recurring or unresolved problems; documentation is developed and maintained; and offsite backup and recovery procedures are effective
  • Develops and maintains short range plans, project plans and proposals, employee development plans, and systems management plans.
  • Establishes controls, including performance and progress reports, to ensure plans are being effectively implemented and IS support is meeting goals and objectives.
  • Ensures organizational activities and structures are in place to meet established plans and objectives. This includes systems management, project management, and data management.
  • Provides climate setting and leadership. This includes developing and improving the overall performance of UHS by developing and improving IS Applications services and support, internal and external teamwork, partnerships and collaboration. This includes active participation and leadership on various UHS projects, committees, system management groups, task forces, etc.

Position Qualifications


  • Associate’s degree in Information Systems, Management Science or related field
  • Three years of experience in systems or project management
  • Five years in a supervisory and/or project leadership role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Management Science or related field preferred
