United Health Services is seeking a full-time Manager for Clinical Documentation Improvement to manage, coordinate, and perform day-to-day operations to include personnel management, education, training, productivity, work assignments, quality reviews, and report standardization. In addition, create a support structure with hospital/ medical staff in all areas related to achieving clinical and operational excellence for clinical documentation improvement. The Manager for Clinical Documentation Improvement position is located in Johnson City, New York. The successful candidate will join United Health Services’ Revenue Cycle Division reporting to the Director of Facility Coding.

Manager for Clinical Documentation Improvement Responsibilities

  • Facilitates and promotes standardization across the enterprise and ensures alignment of high quality documentation that supports a compliant and accurate representation of the clinical care provided to patients.
  • Collaborates and educates with both Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers regarding opportunities for clinical documentation improvement.
  • Oversees staffing and tracking staffing levels, e-learning and annual health assessments. Interview prospective staff. Evaluates employees annually. Provides support, training and education for staff including orientation to new staff. Continue to develop knowledge, talents and skills of staff.
  • Completes at least quarterly staff meetings providing formal monthly communication.
  • Participates in all section, department and committee meetings as appropriate.

Required Education, Experience, and Licensure

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Health Information Management with 3+ years’ experience working knowledge of DRGs, hospital coding, or EMR

• RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CDIP, CCDS, or CDIS certifications or RN license

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree In nursing or Health Information Management with five years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with regulatory agencies and third-party payors.
