  • Position Overview
    • Performs and is knowledgeable/efficient in polysomnographic diagnostic testing. Must have the ability to integrate a basic understanding of anatomy and physiology with sleep/wake pathology. Excellent communication skills are required for ensuring patient education, safety and comfort as well as for discussing patient and clinical situations with physicians. Attention to detail is critical since the quality of data from the polysomnogram is solely the responsibility of the technologist. The individual must be able to maintain vigilance in a non-stimulating environment. Must be able to assimilate data from several sources and anticipate initiation of care, in accordance with protocols to prevent harm to the patient. Must know when to consult the physician regarding the patient’s care. Must react quickly and calmly in emergency situations and must understand and abide by patient confidentiality guidelines.

    • Education/Experience
      • Minimum Required:
        • Associates Degree in Polysomnography OR Eligible for NYS Polysomnographic Tehnologist license or a NYS licensed Respiratory Therapist
        • Five (5) years of Polysomnographic Technician experience.
      • Preferred:
        • Bachelor’s Degree in related field

    • License/Certification
      • Minimum Required:
        • New York State License, Registered Polysomnographic Technician.
        • CPR certification within one (1) week of start date.
