Infusion Care Registered Nurse, Binghamton Hospital, Mitchell Avenue. Binghamton, NY

United Health Services is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Infusion Center in Johnson City, NY. The Infusion Center is open 8am-8pm the shifts are 12, 10 or 8 hours with a rotating weekend schedule. This is a 24 Hours Week/ Benefits Eligible Position.

Shift: Days 8am-8pm
Hours per week: 24 hours/week
Salary range: $32.38 - 48.58/hour, depending on experience


Infusion Care Registered Nurse Overview

The Infusion Care Registered Nurse (Rn) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities through the administration of IV infusion and injection therapies. The RN is responsible for the safe administration of Blood, daily antibiotics, therapeutic IV and injectable medications. The RN monitors and assesses the patient for any potential reactions and initiates appropriate interventions according to policy. The RN utilities knowledge of medication, procedures, infection control and safety precautions to deliver safe patient focused care. The RN is responsible and accountable for compliance to all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services Hospitals and Nursing Division policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patients’ Rights. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient–centered care.

Infusion Care Registered Nurse (RN) Key Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Coordinates clinical training, orientation and ongoing evaluation of new/existing clinical staff as well as completion and submission of clinical competencies at time of hire and annually.
  • In collaboration with the unit coordinator, coordinates clinical schedules, ensuring appropriate clinical support
  • The RN provides clinical leadership while overseeing the scope of practice of LPN’s and Medical Assistants in the office.
  • Triages and assesses patients for early identification of signs and symptoms to prevent complications and ensure timely intervention.
  • Educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
  • Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to UHS Hospitals policy.
  • Maintains CLIA Waives Lab standards and performs CLIA Waived Lab testing and oversees proficiency validation according to regulatory standards, Includes oversight of tri-annual AAFP Lab Proficiency testing, lab quality controls and lab credentialing.
  • Collaborates and leads patients, families and all members of the health care team in coordinating patient care.
  • In collaboration with the Unit Coordinator participates in facilitates Performance Improvement activities, monitors PI data and assists with the development of Performance Improvements plans.
  • Collaborates with Unit Coordinator to promote and facilitate the compliance and understanding of Joint Commission, NYS DOH, Infection Control and all regulatory standards.
  • Participates in educational opportunities and in collaboration with the unit coordinator, assists in providing information updates and acts as a resource for all clinical staff.

Position Qualifications


  • Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing.
  • Current NY State RN License
  • At least 1 year of experience in health care setting with evidence of having obtained proficiency in those areas emphasized in the Registered Nurse curriculum.


  • Previous experience at ICU, ED, IR
  • Strong communication skills
