Home Health Aide, Binghamton, NY area

United Health Services is seeking a Certified Home Health Aide to join our Twin Tier Home Health Department in Binghamton, NY. This is a traveling, Home Health Aide position. The Home Health Aide provides personal care and expanded scope of task activities to patients under the direction of the United Health Services Home Care Registered Professional Nurse. This is a BENEFITS-ELIGIBLE/Full Time position.

Home Health Aide Overview

The Home Health Aid provides rehabilitative exercises under the supervision of a UHS Home Care Rehabilitation Therapist. Reports to Home Health Aide Supervisor for guidance and assignment and to UHS Home Care Registered Professional Nurses for supervision of patient care. The Home Health Aide will need reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license to travel to patients homes as directed throughout the day.

Home Health Aide Key Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Provides patient care in accordance with NYS Department of Health Guidelines, under the supervision of the registered nurse and in accordance with agency policies.
  • Facilitates patient self-care to encourage optimal independence.
  • Promotes a clean and safe home environment.
  • Provides care following infection control principles and reinforces infection control teaching under the guidance of Agency Case Managers.
  • Prepares meals using the principles of good nutrition and modifies diet, as directed by the Case Manager.
  • Records patient status observations, as outlined on the Home Health Aide plan of care.
  • Reports immediately to the Case Manager; or in his/her absence, the Supervisor; any changes in the patient's condition.
  • Makes suggestions to professional staff that contribute to improvement in the quality and continuity of patient care.
  • Assumes responsibility for completion of all documentation, according to agency standards.
  • Demonstrate commitment to organizational Values of Compassion, Trust, Respect, Teamwork, and Innovation

Position Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Completion of NYSDHD approved training program for certified Home Health Aide.
  • NY State Drivers License
  • Dependable transportation

Preferred:

  • Experience as a certified Home Health Aide desirable.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
