United Health Services is seeking a Cafeteria Cashier to join our Binghamton General Hospital team in Binghamton, NY. This is a benefits-eligible position.

Cook Position Overview

As a part of the BGH Food and Nutrition team you will assist in all areas of the department associated with Patient, Retail and Catering Services.

UHS Binghamton General Hospital holds 220 beds and provides general medical clinic services such as surgical, rehabilitative, and emergency care to the people of greater Binghamton. It offers 24-hour emergency care and operates such major regional programs as orthopedic surgery, bariatric care, wound care, physical therapy and rehabilitation services, chemical dependency treatment service, behavioral health program, sleep center and gastroenterology laboratory at our medical clinic.

Cook Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Prepares wholesome, safe, nutritious and quality food products for all retail, patient services, and catering areas. Produce entrees, soups, gravies/sauces, starches, vegetables, baked goods and other items needed for hot and cold food production in all areas. Must follow specific recipes and guidelines for accuracy and consistency to minimize leftovers/waste.
  • Follow all HACCP and safe food handling/preparation procedures. Necessary HACCP forms are correctly completed on a timely basis.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for daily sanitation, by maintaining a clean/safe work environment through general cleaning practices.
  • Ensures accurate and timely set up of the cafeteria stations and patient tray line.
  • Assists with recording amount of food produced for historical value and production records.
  • Details cleaning of work environment.
  • Ensures proper and safe utilization of leftovers from cafeteria.
