United Health Services is seeking Certified Clinical Laboratory Technicians to join our lab services teams. Please indicate in your application which location and shift you prefer. Employees who regularly work at least 24 hours per week are eligible for benefits.

Locations: Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich, NY and Wilson Medical Center, Johnson City, NY
Shifts: Day, evening, and night shifts are available
Hours per week: 24 to 40, depending on shift and location
Salary range: $22.47 - $33.89/hour, depending on experience and location


Certified Clinical Laboratory Technician Position Overview

In the laboratory, under supervision of section supervisor, the Certified Clinical Laboratory Technician performs routine and specialized tests, in clinical or pathology laboratory section in a timely manner according to UHS, Hospitals’, Infection Control, Laboratory and Departmental Policies and Procedures, NYSDOH, CDC Blood and Body Fluids policies and procedures. Priority is given to STAT testing and to tests that require immediate processing. Servicing thousands of patients per year, our high-volume laboratories are accredited by the NYS DOH and the College of American Pathologists.

Successful Clinical Laboratory Technician candidates may be eligible for tuition forgiveness of up to $6,000. Key Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Perform clinical analyses for routine, special, and automated tests
  • Obtains data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease as outlined in the procedural manual and as assigned by the section supervisor in section assigned.
  • Recognizes abnormal results and takes proper action (alert/critical values).
  • Observes reactions and makes qualitative or quantitative analyses. Post results in LIS or on appropriate reports.
  • Performs related computer functions such as entry, verification, retrieval of results and special workload recording.
  • Performs and documents quality control and preventive maintenance on designated laboratory equipment.
  • Obtains laboratory specimens, (blood, urine and other body fluids) directly from patients as trained.
  • Participates in quality improvement efforts and assignments.

Position Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Associates Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or equivalent (NYS Certified Clinical Laboratory Technician)
  • New York State Certified Clinical Laboratory Technician

Preferred:

  • One year of Clinical Laboratory experience
