United Health Services (UHS), the leading integrated healthcare system in New York’s Southern Tier region, has an exciting career opportunity for an experienced Recruiter to join our Laboratory team.

In this pivotal role in the organization, you will be responsible for performing routine and specialized tests in your assignedclinical or pathology laboratory sections in a timely manner, monitoring lab processes, and verifying results under your section supervisor all while following UHS, Hospitals’, Infection Control, Laboratory and Departmental Policies and Procedures, NYSDOH, CDC Blood and Body Fluids policies and procedures.

Core responsibilities for this role include:

  • Performs clinical and/or anatomical analyses for routine, special and automated tests. Obtains data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease as outlined in the procedure manual and as assigned by the section supervisor in section assigned.
  • Recognizes abnormal results and takes proper action (alert/critical values).
  • Observes reactions and makes qualitative or quantitative analyses. Posts results in LIS or on appropriate reports.
  • Performs related computer functions such as entry, verification, retrieval of results and special workload recording.
  • Performs and documents quality control and preventive maintenance on designated laboratory equipment.
  • Obtains laboratory specimens, (blood, urine and other body fluids) directly from patients as trained.
  • Participates in quality improvement efforts and assignments.

The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:

  • Associates's degree in Clinical laboratory Technology or Equivalent.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working in a clinical laboratory setting
  • NYS Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technician
