Accountant, Binghamton

United Health Services is seeking an Accountant to join our Systems General Accounting Team in Binghamton, NY. The Accountant will prepare various bank reconciliations on a monthly basis for Untied Health Services Hospitals and affiliate organizations. This is a[BENEFITS-ELIGIBLE position.

Salary range: $21.18 - $31.78/hour, depending on experience


Accountant Overview

Prepares various cash and investment related journal entries as part of month-end general ledger closing process for the United Health Services Hospitals and affiliate organizations, as well as periodic account analysis updates. Prepares various bank reconciliations on a monthly basis for United Health Services Hospitals and affiliate organizations. Assists in fixed asset accounting including tracking of all capital expenditures and updating various fixed asset account analysis and reports on a monthly basis.

Accountant Key Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Prepares various monthly journal entries.
  • Prepares various accounting analyses and account reconciliations of the general ledger.
  • Assists in the preparation of various surveys and ad hoc information requests.
  • Prepares work papers for the annual audit.
  • Assists in the completion of 990 tax returns for UHS entities.
  • Prepares other ad hoc analyses as requested.
  • Assists with the annual budget for the UHS System General Accounting Department

Position Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, healthcare or similar field OR Associate's Degree with three (3) years' relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles including GAAP and auditing standards
  • Working knowledge of MS software and Excel
