Account Processor, Endicott

United Health Services is seeking an Account Processor to join our Outpatient Physical Therapy Team in Endicott, NY. This is a BENEFITS-ELIGIBLE position.

Account Processor Overview

Under direct supervision of the Business Office Supervisor and the Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Unit Coordinator, the Account Processor is responsible for reviewing denied claims using various Soarian Financial work lists or Reports and responding to inquiries from third party payers and demonstrates a thorough understanding of accepted billing and payment practices and reimbursement methodologies.

Account Processor Key Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Reviews denied claims for accurate processing and performs effective follow up with third party billers for denials and underpayments.
  • Uses denial work lists, contacts payers for claim status and re-bills, corrects claims as necessary.
  • Initiates contact with third party payers as indicated.
  • Reviews claims and payments to ensure correct reimbursement from third party payers based on the knowledge and understanding of charge entry. Documents thoroughly any action taken on encounters in Soarian Financials.
  • Recommends and forwards refund requests for approval and processing.
  • Updates patient registration as necessary to ensure that the proper insurance is billed timely.
  • Reports to work on time as scheduled and follow safety rules and regulations.
  • Communicates effectively with all staff and unit coordinator on potential issues to find resolution.
  • Educates therapy staff on process improvement to limit denial errors.
  • Maintains patient and employee confidentiality.

Position Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One to two years of experience in a health care setting

Preferred:

  • Associates degree in accounting
  • Additional experience in a field related to records retention practices particularly related to hospital accounts receivable area
